23 Things Summary
I enjoyed the 23 things exercise. I feel it was a good way to explore some of the new concepts that are involved in the new era of the web. I think my favorite part of the project was podcasting. I use Itunes to listen to podcasts of radio stations that are not in the Palm Beach County area. I also enjoyed learning about blogging. Although I had heard of blogging before, I was never into it, but I feel it is a good way of expressing opinions and writing down thoughts for others to see.
Overdrive website
The Overdrive downloadable audio books is a great place for PBCLS users to search for and listen to audio books without needing to come in to the library. Many different titles are available, and can be previewed to see if it is something interesting. I looked up 1984 by George Orwell and was able to listen to an introduction and the first chapter of the book. The site also gives a synopsis of the book. Overdrive is helpful to those who are disabled, or who enjoy listening to audio books.
Podcast searching
These websites are useful tools for locating and subscribing to podcasts. There are many different categories that can be browsed through to suit anybody's needs.
This is a podcast I subscribed to called Nobody Likes Onions, which deals primarily with current events.

Web 2.0 Award Site
One site that I went to that was interesting to me is Mog (http://www.mog.com.) This is a site that users can stream music from. With the Rhapsody player, one can listen to 25 songs for no charge in a month, or it can be upgraded to be able to listen to unlimited songs for $12.99/month.
This application could be used in a library setting to stream audio CDs for patrons to listen to.

Zoho Writer & Google Docs
The Zoho website is a useful tool for those who want an alternative to word processing. These documents are created online, but can be saved to use when an internet connection isn't available. It seems to be a good money saver for those who don't want to spend money on using Microsoft Word or Works for word processing applications.
Google Docs is another website like Zoho Writer where users can prepare documents, as well as spreadsheets and multimedia presentations. The website also lets users upload previously saved documents, such as Word or Excel files to be updated in Google Docs.

PB Wiki
PB Wiki, or Peanut Butter Wiki, is a website that hosts users' wikis. The site makes it easy for people to view and edit their wiki as needed. One can create a public, or private wiki to allow for restricted access. This is a good website for those who want to collaborate with each other on a project or different ideas.

Wikis
Wikis are useful for people who want to collaborate with each other to share ideas. For instance, if I wanted to trade music CDs with someone, I could make a list of CDs I want to get and those that I can trade. Wikis are a good way to constantly update lists of information in an easy way.
Libraries can use wikis to recommend books or other items for people to look at.

Web 2.0
Web 2.0 is the future of the internet. It focuses more on real-time changes instead of static pages. With RSS feeds, people can get updated news and information. One of the main goals of Web 2.0 is to get users to become more interactive with each other in sharing information. Examples of websites that take advantage of Web 2.0 philosophies are: Google, E-bay, Craigslist, and Flickr.

Technorati website
This website is basically a warehouse of all different blogs that people have written. It is a good tool to find out what other people are thinking about certain subjects. For example, searching for New York Rangers gives a listing of different blogs relating to the Rangers. At the top of the page, it also shows tags of related searches.
Social Bookmarking
This tool can be useful for research and creating bookmarks. One that I searched for and found was a website that lists current gas prices. Users post prices that they find at stations around the road and these prices are then posted on the web site.

RSS Feeds & Podcasts
RSS feeds are a good tool for those who like to get their news from the Internet. RSS feeds make it convenient for people to place news and information from many different sources all in one place. Another tool that is useful is podcasts. Podcasts can be used like a radio broadcast to deliver information in spoken format.
Tech Related Post
I feel that current technology can be both helpful and at times, a hinderance. Technology is helpful in that it can make processes in daily life go by faster. It can also be a hinderance in that sometimes we rely too much on technology that we forget how to do simple tasks without the aid of appliances or electronics.

Hardest of the 7 1/2 things
I feel the hardest of the 7 1/2 things for me is looking ahead toward the end. I tend not to worry to much about the future until it happens, and I take things as they come.
